Rescue Me ID: 17-12-14-00192Neptune (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Posted 12/14/17, and pictures taken 8/1/17. A rescue in Oregon was persuaded to tag Neptune by someone from the Smith County, TX Animal Control, and I picked him up on 8/1/17 to foster until transport. Neptune got on transport to Oregon on 9/6/17. While I had no problem with Neptune here among my yard dogs, any person or my son here, or person that came here, Neptune's behavior changed in two different home environments in Oregon to be protective of the person in the home to anyone who came to the house, so I asked to have Neptune transported back to me where there were no problems, and see if I can find a home for him that will fit his ... (Read More)personality. He will probably be good for a single person wanting a personal guard dog for their home, or someone who knows how to be the leader. Dogs do change when they are in different environments, and they also respond to the way people are around them. Neptune, a Boxer mix, was picked up on Eastside Rd. on 5/11/17 weighing 47 pounds, estimated to be 2 years old, and heartworm negative. Neptune was neutered and micro-chipped on 8/12/17. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-12-13-00499Axel (male)

Bull Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Posted 12/13/17 and pictures taken 11/29/17. I picked Axel up from the Smith County Animal Shelter on 11/29/17. He had been picked up on CR 3140 on 11/8/17 weighing 30 pounds, and estimated to be 4 years old. He was scared in the kennel at the shelter. Once out of the kennel, he was in my lap licking my face while I was signing his release papers, good on a leash, and likes going for rides. I have let him run around several of my dogs with no problems, but can act dominant to some other male dogs. He will be neutered on 1/5/2018. He has not liked going potty in his larger kennel here, so there is a chance he might be house trained, ... (Read More)but he does like to mark areas outside his kennel here. He is heartworm positive, and we will be doing slow kill for his treatment. I have a page of instructions for using Ivomec for the slow kill that will go with his adoption if he is still positive when adopted. He could be heartworm negative in 6 months. Axel is estimated to have been born around 2013, and weighed 30.0 on 11/8/17. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-12-03-00022Dahlia (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Posted 12/2/17, and pictures taken on 9/1/17. Dahlia was transferred to me on 8/31/17 from the Rebel Ranch Rescue after the founder, Amy Allen, was murdered on 8/21/17. Dahlia was one of 4 dogs still there that other rescue groups chose not to take. She was scared and tried to chew the leash the first attempt to get her out of her dog pen, so a second leash was used as a muzzle. She was also hiding in a hole under her dog house. She had a male dog in the dog pen with her named Artie, who seemed to be attached to her. After being in a dog pen for about one week. I decided to start letting Dahlia and Artie out to run, and they would ... (Read More)chase each other around and then run back into the dog pen when done. Dahlia also LOVES to get in water. After another week of this, I decided to leave the gate open all the time. They eventually moved to another section of our property. Dahlia started climbing our 4 foot perimeter fence and running around the wooded area, but Artie has stayed on our property and made friends with the other dogs here, so he is not as attached to Dahlia as I first thought. Dahlia got to where she came up to me to get pet, so it was easy to catch her when she was outside our property. I put her in a small secure kennel at first with some can food, so she knew that going in that kennel meant can food when I needed to catch her again. I now have her in a secure 6 foot tall dog pen. She first found a way out through the chain link on top by getting on top of a dog house, but the chain link is now secure to the railing. She needs a lot of space to run with a tall secure fence, and a source of water to get into. It would be nice if she could get a job to do, since she is very trainable, and it might help keep her at a home. Dahlia was already spayed when transferred, and heartworm negative on 9/1/17. She is estimated to have been born around August 2013, and weighed 47.6 on 9/1/17. (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Posted 12/2/17, and pictures taken on 9/1/17. Artie was transferred to me on 8/31/17 from the Rebel Ranch Rescue after the founder, Amy Allen, was murdered on 8/21/17. Artie was one of 4 dogs still there that other rescue groups chose not to take. He was scared and tried to chew the leash the first attempt to get him out of his dog pen, so a second leash was used as a muzzle. He seemed to be very attached to his companion Dahlia who shared his dog pen, so was happy to be in a crate next to her for the drive back to our property. After being in a dog pen for about one week. I decided to start letting Artie and Dahlia out to run, and ... (Read More)they would chase each other around and then run back into the dog pen when done. After another week of this, I decided to leave the gate open all the time. They eventually moved to another section of our property. Dahlia started climbing our 4 foot perimeter fence, but Artie has stayed on our property and made friends with the other dogs here, so he is not as attached to Dahlia as I first thought. He is still skittish of people, but loves treats and can food, which has made him feel comfortable enough to come up to me on occasion to let me pet him. At first I had to throw treats to him, but now he will take them from my hand, and especially will come for a spoon of can food. He needs a home that will be patient with him, other dogs to play with, and a large fenced area. He likes to get on top of dogs houses and other things to lay down on, and knows where the treats are, so will get into the bags if not sealed up. I was told that Amy called him Smarty Artie. He also has an underbite, which may indicate he is part Boxer. Artie was already neutered when transferred, and heartworm negative on 9/1/17. He is estimated to have been born around 2014, and weighed 45.4 on 9/1/17. (Less)

Bull Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Posted on 12/2/17, and pictures taken on 8/21/17. Asia was part of the Rebel Ranch Rescue, and she was transferred to me when the founder of the Rebel Ranch Rescue, Amy Allen, was murdered on 8/21/17. Amy had just gotten Asia from the Smith County Animal Shelter on 8/11/17. Asia is playful and high energy, so she will need a home that will help her work that energy off, and she will need a fenced yard. Asia tries to climb in my lap, always right by me wanting attention and to get pet, and LOVES to chase after water from a water hose. Asia actually settles down while she is being pet. She is in an outside fenced area, so it is unknown ... (Read More)if she is house or crate trained, and is good on a leash. Asia has a huge heart shaped patch on the Right side of her body. Asia was spayed on 8/28/17. She is estimated to have been born around January 2017, and weighed 32.2 on 8/28/17. (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Found 11/21/15 at Lake Palestine, and pictures taken 11/23/15. Braxton did not like going in a crate at first, but now he will go in his crate on his own, and knows which one belongs to him. He can get out if he wants to, so I put a clip on the bottom of the door, and it keeps him in. He is sweet and gentle with people, loves attention, is good around our other dogs, and loves his treats. Braxton was estimated to have been born around May 2010, and weighed 58.9 on 11/23/15.

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-20-00171Dax (male)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Posted 4/20/17, and pictures taken on 4/17/17. Dax was found at a business on 4/14/17 with a lot of fleas. No owner has come forward, so he is up for adoption. He is very sweet and playful, rides extremely well in a vehicle, and appears to have been house trained with puppy pads. Although he rides well in a vehicle, he does not have the personality to go places. I have been working on house training him by going outside, and he seems to have learned that now especially with help from our other dogs. He loves playing outside with our big dogs, so he must have a home with other dogs and a fenced yard. He is a little skittish when ... (Read More)meeting new people at first, and then he is fine. He did bark for a short time when left inside, and I would go outside, but he has stopped that now. Now he only barks when people come to our property, and sometimes at new dogs. He is still chewing on things, and likes to take off with shoes if left inside too long during the day unsupervised. He will roll over to get belly rubs, likes to come up to me licking my hands to get pet, and sometimes tries to crawl on my lap. He is ok on a leash, but needs more work on that, and will follow me wherever I walk. His breed appears to be Jack Russell Terrier mixed with Chihuahua. Dax is estimated to have been born around January 13, 2017, and weighed 7.6 on 4/14/17; 12.4 on 5/14/17; and 20.8 on 11/18/17. (Less)

Rottweiler Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Posted 4/14/17, and pictures taken 3/31/17. Cameron was one of five dogs at the Smith County, TX Shelter on 3/28/17 that needed to leave that day. Another rescue was going to take him, but could not take another heartworm positive dog, so I tagged him, since one of my senior dogs passed away. He has joined my yard dogs, and follows me everywhere. He does not like being in a crate or riding in a vehicle, but I'm working with him on those and he is getting much better with both. He looks like a teddy bear in the face. He has a slight dominant personality, but is very trainable, since he is eager to please his person. He has barked at our ... (Read More)cats, so I would not recommend him with cats, and he is good with children and adults. He was put on Doxycycline and Prednisone for a month, which he started on 4/10/17. He can stay on prevention now or have heartworm treatment. Ivomec can be used twice a month for about 6 months to kill the heartworms, and I have a page of instructions on how to use the Ivomec. Cameron was picked up on Hwy 135 on 1/21/17 weighing 34 pounds, and estimated to be 2 years old. He now weighs 53.6 pounds. $80 adoption fee. American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Posted 4/14/17, and pictures taken 3/31/17. Mercado has some Terrier in him, but not sure what his mix is. Brindle fur is not an indication of any breed, since numerous breeds have Brindle fur. I had to choose American Staffordshire Terrier to post him on this site. Mercado was found injured by a young man, and brought him to Dr. Reeves, but he couldn't take him home. I just had an adoption, so I was able to take him. He had a minor injury to his pelvis that healed very well on its own. He was neutered on 2/2/17, is crate trained, loves to play with the other dogs, good with children and adults, barks at our cats, and does ok on a ... (Read More)leash, but needs some more work. He loves to play with some old toys laying around, like a fox stuffed toy that doesn't have the stuffing or squeaker anymore. He runs around carrying it in his mouth, and gets another dog to play with him. Mercado is estimated to have been born around September 2016, and weighed 45.4 on 4/14/17. (Less)

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Posted 4/3/17, and pictures taken 4/1/17. Champ came from Smith County Animal Control on 3/22/17. Champ has joined my yard dogs, likes to play with the other dogs, is good around children and adults, leash trained, and is crated at night. He will go in his crate on his own now. He likes to dance also. He will get into a happy spin in one spot. Champ was picked up on 1/5/17 on CR 1289 weighing 58 pounds, estimated to be 3 years old, and was neutered on 3/27/17. I wasn't sure what breed to list him as, but the more I got to watch him, he reminded me of another dog I had that I listed as a Bone Mouth Shar Pei mix. The shape of his ears ... Catahoula Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Posted on 1/17/17, and pictures taken on 12/22/16. Paco came from Smith County Animal Control. He was not reclaimed, and was running out of time. He is a very sweet dog, good with other dogs, doesn't like to share his food too much, ok on a leash when he is not scared, and likes to smile. His front teeth are worn down, so when he smiles, only his canine teeth show, which is very cute, and he wags his tail very fast. He just wants to be pet a lot, and have his belly rubbed. His age is hard to determine with the teeth worn down, so he was guessed at 8 + years in December 2016, and weighed 53.3 pounds on 12/26/16.

Posted on 9/22/16, and pictures taken on 8/10/16. Pete, a Tuxedo cat, wandered up to a home in the Lake Palestine, TX area around the beginning of August 2016, and they already had several cats of their own, so they could not keep him. Pete is very affectionate, likes to be vocal when he wants to be pet, and may try to go outside when he sees a door open.     Posted 9/10/16, and pictures taken on 8/20/16. Farren was running free with her mom Amelia and siblings in Lindale, TX, and was trapped on 6/8/16. She has tamed down to where she likes getting pet, and is a Torbie, which is a mix between a Calico and Tabby. Farren is estimated to have been born around May 5, 2016. Our adoption contracts prohibit declawing of any kittens or cats, it is cruel, can traumatize the pet, and make the pet defenseless if the pet should get outside. We encourage people to search for kittens and cats already declawed that need to find a new home.

Cocker Spaniel Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Posted 9/15/15, and pictures updated 5/4/16. While working on a rescue project, Truffles and her sister Capri were found at a dumpster at Lake Palestine on 9/3/15 in route to our rescue location. Both came running up, are somewhat good on a leash, but need more practice, are very sweet, and love to be pet. They are crate trained, love to play with the other dogs, and they are social with people, so they did have an owner. We had them at an adoption event in September 2015, and they let a lot of children pet them. We were thinking possible Beagle mix for the breed at first until the Cocker Spaniel mix was suggested. There was also the ... (Read More)suggestion of Rottweiler in looking at Capri. Both girls have stub tails and underbites. She was estimated to have been born around April 2015, and weighted 28.2 on 9/11/15; 52.8 on 5/29/16. (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Posted 12/17/14. Cuddles and many more dogs were at a sanctuary in Quitman, TX, that could no longer care for all the dogs. The dogs were in danger of being euthanized. Cuddles was already spayed and rabies vaccinatinated. CUDDLES was found on Hwy 80 starving, and treated for Parvo around 9/4/10. The vet said she was about 12 weeks old when found. There is no description of her breed in her vet records, but our best guess is a Yellow Lab/Terrier mix. She was spayed on 8/9/13 and vaccinated, and weighed 56 pounds on 10/23/14. She is shy of new people, so her new family would have to be patient with her. She has come up to people at our ...     Posted 8/23/15, and pictures taken 8/4/15. The owner died on 6/26/15 in Ben Wheeler, TX. The mother was a Blue Heeler. While we had the dogs at the man's house posted for the family to try to find homes for them, someone let the gate open to the dog pen, letting her mother and three siblings out, and her mother and one sibling were killed by something or someone. Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Posted 8/2/15, and pictures taken 8/2/15. Marley was brought to us on 8/1/15, he is neutered, has not had a mess in the crates so far, so might actually do great in a house, is extremely friendly with people and the other dogs, but will go after cats, goats, snakes, and other wild animals. Mark, former owner, said Marley will just rip the head off of a snake, and when Marley went in the creek where they live, water snakes would stay away from him. Mark thought Marley had Pit Bull in him, but when he got here, I could see the resemblance of a Bull Terrier in his face. It's hard to see it in pictures, but you can definitely see it in person. ...
